Pickled Image has been performing, making, teaching and filming puppets since they formed in the year 2000. The company has been totally immersed in the world of puppets, whether it’s performing their imaginative theatre shows, or out on the streets delighting audiences with their internationally successful ‘Bernard’s Puppet Bonanza’, Pickled Image has inspired and educated everyone with an interest in puppets.
Their puppet making and design has a bold and original style, commissions have included the BBC, Green Ginger, The Wright Stuff Theatre of Puppets and Garsington Opera, amongst many others. Pickled Image are involved with all aspects of puppet making, from character drawings to construction. Their puppetry techniques has been taught at Schools and Universities to computer animators, MA students and excitable Primary School children.

Dik Downey has been involved in the entertainment business for 24 years. He has been a fire-eater, escapologist, designer, clown and a Desperate Man! He joined Green Ginger in 1994 as a performer and maker. Dik toured extensively with the company and has performed the title roll in ‘Slaphead’ Demon Barber and ‘Frank Einstein’ Rewired. He has been heavily involved in all their productions since leaving in 2000. He can be seen in Terry Gilliam’s ‘Brazil’ if you have a really good pause button! Dik is a productive ceramicist.
Vicky Andrews trained as a sculptor and theatre designer and has worked in the creative sector for 10 years. Her theatre designs have been seen in various productions from Bristol Old Vic, Welsh National Opera and Bath Ustinov Theatre. She was a Linbury finalist in 1999, and is a talented illustrator. Vicky is a very skilled puppet maker and an accomplished puppeteer.
