toast in the machine

Green Ginger is delighted to announce the launch of its programme of professional development in puppetry and related disciplines. Five grants worth between £3000 and £5000 have been made possible through generous funding from The Leverhulme Trust. The awards will enable a handful of young artists and theatre makers to gain support from experienced theatre professionals as they take their first steps into a working practice. Toast in the Machine will encourage a passion for one's craft, a thirst for further knowledge and the confidence to dare to fail whilst acquiring new skills.
A placement lasts between 6 and 18 months during which a participant can:
• learn new skills and develop their practice
• access workshop & rehearsal space to create new work
• receive expert mentoring and project supervision
• access professional development resources and support
• showcase work at prominent venues in London, Bristol and Bath
Specialist training can be provided in design and fabrication of puppets, props and mechanical sets,
manipulation for performance, devising, scriptwriting and sound & light design. On completion, graduates
will have tools to sustain their practice with the confidence to create original work of the highest quality,
whilst remaining inquisitive and daring.
